In Pursuit of the Elusive Story Elves: The Editing Adventure
Do you ever find yourself staring at a manuscript, secretly hoping for elves to magically polish it while you sleep? If so, welcome to my world. And if not, well, welcome to my world anyway.
I’ve lost count of the times I’ve returned to edit my manuscript, filled with motivation and ambition, only to find myself drifting to Medium within minutes. But hey, if you’re reading this, at least that diversion isn’t entirely without merit. One day, I’ll gaze back at articles like this, chuckling at the breadcrumbs of my writer’s journey.
Refusal to edit
I don’t want to edit. I don’t. I keep on going back to it and for a little while I’m good. But — yea I ended up on Medium. At least I’m writing, right?
Not that anyone is reading what is on my Medium anyway but I’ll only get better at doing it and I will look back on this article (or not) in a couple of years and be able to look back and bask in my writing journey.
I know what I want and that is to share all the stories that live inside. Within my mind is a bustling workshop of story elves, hammering out narratives and sewing plots. I’ve got story elves crafting day and night. So much so that I can barely function socially for the elves are working faster than ever, telling me those words…
